Yes, it’s alpha-land, and you’ve been invited to take part in a fun exercise called: “I don’t get it. Is it just me?”To make it even more fun, we’ve made sure the alpha slows down your browser, takes up more screen real estate than it needs to, and it only works on Firefox; so if you’re thinking at least the download might be easy, think again. (of course, if you’re reading this, you’ve most probably already suffered through the download process and are currently cursing me under your breath anyway…).So why take the punishment and keep smiling? Well because we hope you take a minute to think through what we’re trying to do:We’re building a people dimension for the internet. A shared space where you can see yourself, your friends, and total strangers as you move from website to website. All in real-time.Sounds weird, impossible, or whuh..? Your head takes a double-take? Then you’re our ideal alpha tester. Tell us if we’re anywhere close to what you were thinking. Sounds uninteresting, and why would you want to interact or see other people on the internet? Then you’re also ideal, because we need to understand how your head works. You’re our enigma, and everyone likes an enigma.Did I mention it slows down your browser? It does. But we plan to make that temporary. Don’t like how much space it takes on your browser? Also in the works is a mini-toolbar that shouldn’t take anymore room than a standard toolbar. Can’t figure out why we built it in Firefox vs. Internet Explorer when most people use Internet Explorer? Lots of very good, well thought-out reasons. Regardless, we’ll have IE when we go public. So what do we expect from you for giving you this dubious honor of being an alpha tester?First and foremost, we just need you to leave it on. The building blocks of the shared space are the websites you visit. The more you and your friends use it, the more we’ll be able to help you connect with the right people, and find you the best recommended websites. Then tell us what you think, and hold nothing back. As long as you have your reasons, we welcome what you have to say. We just reserve the right to ignore it (just kidding
).Pretty straightforward. You can tell me directly on this blog, or you can join the forums where you can add to other people’s comments and bug reports. With that, welcome to Medium!Kimbal and the Medium team
