As many of you have noted, there was a small issue with the new Me.dium version that went out late yesterday. Instead of all the wonderful feedback from the great new features we plugged in, you guys discovered and pointed out a bug that shifted our entire Dev Team into hyper-drive.Well luckily, being as good as they are, our engineers have addressed and destroyed the bug. All you need to do is update your Me.dium version. Well have the gory details posted to our forum shortly. So, if you haven’t done so while reading this…please update your Me.dium version in order to get rolling again. Thanks again for your patience today. And many thanks to our developer and QA teams for putting their normal pre-holiday plans on hold while we circled the wagons to get this addressed. Now that that’s out of the way, we’re open to all your thoughts on the wonderful new features! ![]()
Our engineers have addressed the bug with the EBay RSS feed hijacking your browser. Well have the full, gory details posted to our forum shortly. Please update your Me.dium version in order to get rolling again. Thanks again for your patience today. And many thanks to our developer and QA teams for putting their normal pre-holiday plans on hold while we circled the wagons to get this addressed.
‘Houston, we’ve had a problem. We’ve had a main B bus undervolt.’Either that, or it’s the Fetzer Valve. Gotta make a note to check that. You know it’s going to be a great day when you walk into the office in the morning and everyone in your Dev and QA teams are huddled around their monitors screaming out suggestions for possible fixes. Fixes for what?!?! Oh, so we’re redirecting a bunch of people’s browsers to one random eBay page that’s trying to sell them a watch. Is that all?“Shut it Down!”That’s a pretty good description of my world this morning.Bugs are certainly nothing new to software, nor are they a stranger here at Me.dium. The challenge in my book has always been more about how you deal with the inevitable. How quickly you make decisions; how willing are you to make the hard decisions; are you focused on your ass or your audience? These situations effect individuals in many different ways. The team here at Me.dium made a few hard, quick decisions, and took Me.dium offline temporarily. They hunkered down, and are calmly and quickly dealing with the task at hand. Just got this form my CTO as I typed:“We are past our original ETA of 30 mins. for a fix to the problem in prod. We have several fixes in the works. Next ETA is 15 minutes, but another update will not be sent out until 30 mins. from now, or resolution (which ever comes first).”I know the community team is plugged in and blogging for our users so they know what’s going on and our users are posting about how they experienced the bug on our forums. Check here for ongoing updates…Not sure yet what the resolution will be, but I know this team will figure it out and get Me.dium back up and running as soon as possible – no Ostriches here. Kind of reminds me of an ER surgical team. Sounds like it’s time to pitch a new Reality Show to me!
Good morning, would you like to buy a watch? We’re currently experiencing an interesting issue with a RSS page redirecting Me.dium users to it. Our engineers are working on the issue as quickly as possible and I’ll continue to post updates as we make progress. We appreciate your patience and hope to have this resolved shortly.
We’re in the process of making a few improvements to the Me.dium sidebar in preparation for the upcoming RockMe. online festival based upon our users feedback. We’re introducing these improvements in several phases, so don’t freak on me here.
First up, we’ve added some additional user profile information available when you mouse over the sites in the Me.dium map. We’ve added space for beautiful picture (you’ve added one your Me.dium profile right?) and have included a link to your Me.dium profile (which you’ve filled out, right?). The pictures aren’t there yet, but it wont be long before you’ll start seeing everyone.Secondly, we’ve made it easier than ever to make new friends by allowing you to chat directly with people whose user name is visible to all in the map. Just mouse over their site in the map, select them from the list of people on the site and introduce yourself.
And finally, we’ve add the new profile links to the friends tab.Like I said, this is just the first phase on these improvements and we will have plenty of cool new things rolling out over the next few weeks. Please take a moment update your Me.dium version to get the full experience. Thanks
