Phew… Just got out of Poshmama’s Me.dium Valentine’s Day tour and I’m EXHAUSTED. Much like PM’s last tour, the first hour flew by … so fast, in fact, that it led straight into a THIRD hour before I even noticed the time.
The Poshmamas are an awesome group of ladies with tons to share. From V-day treats for your puppy to cutesy leggings for your toddlers, these haute moms have it all just a click away. If there are sites YOU want to share with friends or even an entire social network like Poshmama.com, Me.dium is the place to do it. Any one of you out there can host a chat like this to check out funny sites, videos, shop together… the list goes on (after all, you can find anything on the internet can’t you?) Just check out the public shout out board and share your favorite page - Get your friends and other Me.dium users to join you and you’ve got yourself a good time.
Big thank you to Poshmama and I hope to hear from all you chatty ladies who contributed!
Check out how full the Me.dium map was and click here for an action of me shopping.
We’re very excited to have the poshest of the posh mamas from PoshMama.com back in Me.dium for a “Mom’s Minute” on Thursday at 2 PM CST as they get ready for the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday. Posh Mama is an online magazine and social network for ‘haute’ mothers. The network is a supportive, interactive and highly engaged community of women who share tips on fashion, decoration, safe toys, books, beauty products, nutrition and exercise.
PoshMama herself will be leading the tour and I guarantee that you’ll get some mad shopping tips as well as have a great time.
Just head over to PoshMama.com to join the fun.
Well hello old friends, and welcome NEW USERS!
Well you’re reading this blog, which means you’ve somehow navigated your way to the Me.dium website, and hopefully have already gotten your sidebar up an running. <—-take a look at it….pretty cool eh?
Now there are a lot of features going on, and we want you to take advantage of everything Me.dium has to offer, you might not even know where to start….which is cool, because it just so happens that we’re here to help. (In fact, we quite enjoy it.)
So lets start from the beginning, you may ask….”What the heck is Me.dium?”
To which the response would be: “Me.dium is awesome”…but I guess you want more detail than that so….
“Me.dium is a browser sidebar that allows you to surf with your friends. Live. In real-time. With Me.dium, you’ll get a personalized map of the Internet that updates as you and your friends move. The map also recommends relevant sites based upon your current online activity to help you find what you’re looking for.”
For the complete rundown (which I highly recommend) click here!
Let’s take a look together, shall we? Look at the left side of your screen and the sidebar that is there. The first thing you should notice is a “map” against a black back drop. That is your personalized view of the internet. YOU are the only orange icon up there, and should be sitting at the “Me.dium blog’s” page, because after all, you are still reading this. Me.dium is showing your location, and while doing so is also showing you the activity going on in the net. See all those blue icons floating around? Those are other users like you surfing around the Internet. Click any one of them to follow them to a website, and see what they’re looking at.
The Skinny on the Shout outs
Underneath your map, you should see headlines of random things about websites. Click one that catches your eye, and you will be taken to the website that the headline was about. Join in on the live chat about this topic, or start your own. Simply go to a website you like and at the bottom of your screen hit the button “click to comment about this page.” Tell the people why this site is interesting, and watch as other icons flock to your site and tell you their thoughts….cool huh?
Get your friends to join, or make friends on Me.dium!
How do I make these friends you ask….?There are a few ways to go about doing this. Directly underneath your map in the right corner, there is a “friends tab.” You will see the words “invite.” If you know the me.dium ID of the person you want to be BFFs with, just type their screen name in the box. As long as they accept your request, BAM! You have a new friend, and you will be able to quickly follow them because all friends are represented as yellow icons. If you have a conversation with some users off of the shout-out boards, and want to add them as a friend, simply click their “ID name” in conversation. A drop down “add to friends” will show up. Click that, and wowza, another friend!
Private or public, you decide
At the top right corner of the Me.dium sidebar is an orange icon. That is your privacy setting. Change it to “visible to all,” “visible to friends,” or “visible to no one” With Me.dium, you’re in control of what others see of your surfing habits.
whew, takin’ a breather.
I know that was a lot of information, and dang, my fingers are sore from all the typing! I just get so excited with all the things Me.dium has to offer, that I don’t even know where to start. There are other very cool things going on with the sidebar that I didn’t even touch upon yet, but will be more than happy to take you through, just add me as a friend. My Me.dium screen name is “Jenniferlauren” and I’d love to help you out, hear your thoughts, or just plain chat about x y or z.
Thanks for taking the time to read, and I’ll see ya on the map.
Jenny
PS: Off topic, but if any of you out there want do some definite good in the community (karma points!) and get a super hot T-Shirt while you’re at it, please click here for more info.

… seriously. This is not a joke, I need old, but working iPods for a philanthropic project I have been hatching for a couple months.
Here is the 411
Last August, while I was working with the Lance Armstrong Foundation, a member of our Board of Directors (and fellow marathon-runner) Brad Feld challenged me to get involved locally and have a positive impact.
So I came up with a ‘music therapy’ idea for the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center (RMCC) here in Boulder, CO called “Chemo Rocks”. I just got the go-ahead from the RMCC. Now I need your help, if you can provide it.
In a nutshell, I want to provide a library of iPods loaded with different types of music or play lists for cancer patients to “check out” and use while they are getting their multi-hour, in-office, chemotherapy IV infusions. The iPods stay in the RMCC complex.
My mother-in-law was the inspiration for this while we were in South Carolina visiting her and my father-in-law early last month. I gave her a fully loaded iPod Shuffle for Christmas and she has loved it in her last two chemo appointments.
I have the music, I have the iTunes Server Macintosh, I just need a dozen or more old iPods, iPod Nanos, and/or iPod shuffles. (256 Mb to 5 Gb capacity). I don’t need your music, I will wipe them clean and load them up. I just need your old hardware and will happily return any iPods we cannot use.
This is not a tax deductible type thing, I’m not an officially registered non-profit, nor is this project…
but think of the “karma points” you will score. Folks within Me.dium have already pitched in to the point that I will have “Chemo Rocks” up and running by Monday afternoon, 01-28-2008. This could be the start of something really big folks, and you could be able to say, “Oh yes, I helped the folks at Me.dium start that whole project.”
So that is my pitch. I need your old unused, but working iPods to help local cancer patients going through chemo therapy.
I know from frist hand experience that “chemo” can suck, but I also know that “chemo rocks”.
For more information about “Chemo Rocks” and how to help, contact me here. I am also often out in the “Me.dium Sidebar World” at Me.dium ID songbird.

Thanks for reading.
UPDATE: Dean will throw in a Me.dium t-shirt, stickers and any other schwag he can get his hands on to everyone who ponies up an iPod.
UPDATE - The Tiki Bar TV premier has been delayed until 5 PM EST (2 PM PST) due to government clearance required for their soviet propaganda.
UPDATED UPDATE - The leaders of our glorious peoples revolution will premier the CCCP Tiki Bar TV for the Peoples Friday at 3 PM EST / 12 PM PST. The chairman thanks you for your patience.
What’s so good about Thursdays? Pretty much nothing. The only thing its got going for itself is that it’s the day before Friday, which is kinda pathetic if you ask me.
TOMORROW however, something is happening that’s making Thursday a great day, something that, do I dare say it, is making this specific Thursday, January 24th of the year 2008, an even better than Friday! Drumroll please…..It’s the premier of a BRAND SPANKIN’ NEW TIKI BAR EPISODE!
Ok let me give you a moment to take it all in and settle down from your excitement.
Ok, you good?
Good, I shall now continue….
This episode is called “CCCP Tiki Bar TV for Peoples” and it’s airing at 2:00pm PST, (that’s 5pm Est for those who can’t do math). We’ll all be meeting at Tikibartv.com to watch the show together, share LOLs with each other, and of course discuss which one of Dr. Tiki’s infamous creations are our personal favorites….or which drinks led to some wonderfully embarrassing moments (which you may or may not fully remember.)
So grab your fez, and your favorite mug…it’s almost Tiki Time.
Can’t wait to see you all there.
xox
