“Change is inevitable - except from a vending machine.” ~Robert C. Gallagher
Hello old friends and hello to all our new users! ![]()
Nobody panic! I’m sure you’ve noticed a few changes to our sidebar and have a whole bunch of questions, but I want you to rest assured–there is no need for concern. In fact, here at Me.dium, we think you’re really gonna dig these tweaks, changes, and little extras that our new and improved sidebar has. Change can be a good thing! So relax, take a deep breath, and get ready to cruise the web with your friends.
First things first—Why change at all?
One great thing about Me.dium is that we are always listening to what you have to say. Our users provide us with crucial feedback and we are constantly looking to better ourselves by bringing you the cleanest, sweetest, most effective program possible. According to popular feedback, you guys want something focused on YOU that keeps you easily connected with friends. So, check out what we’ve got thus far and keep the feedback coming!
With the new sidebar, you can absolutely still surf with your friends. That’s what it’s all about. If you’ve used Me.dium before, your friends list will transfer over to the new sidebar. If you want to add new friends, simply click the “add friends” button and type in their Me.dium username. Chat and check out sites together as you surf. You will see your friends float around on your map going to different sites. Just click their location, and wham, now you are looking at the same page as them. The map is a space for you and your friends to chat, surf, and check things out together in real-time.
If you’re a
fan, Me.dium is making it easier than ever to message, connect with, and check out the profiles of your Facebook buddies. You have the choice to import all of your Facebook friends into your Me.dium sidebar. They do not need to be registered with Me.dium, and we will not spam your friends in any way. Once you’ve done so, you can message them or view their profile with one click to your new sidebar. (Pretty nifty, eh?)
We take your privacy very seriously, that’s why Me.dium still will automatically turn itself off when entering a secure website (like banking and email). You also have the option to make your location visible and invisible to everyone on your friends list. It’s up to you how much you share.
Customize Me.dium with sweet new skins Mix it up a little by choosing a new skin for your map. Are you feeling icy? Is bubble-gum pink your fav? Click the little wheel icon at the top of your map to choose a skin. Feels like a “mossy” day for me.
If you want website recommendations, click the “m” button at the top of your sidebar. It bring up new sites for you to check out. Turn it off by pressing the “M” once more.
We have a tutorial video and FAQ page for you to check out, to help those who are first starting with Me.dium, and those who need a little extra help transitioning to the new sidebar. Remember, we still have a team here to answer any questions you have, so please add GFIGG, PJN, or myself JENNIFERLAUREN to your friends list, and we will do whatever we can to help you out.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you love the, as David Bowie would say, “cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-changes! What a great song!

You’re sophisticated, stylish, and smart so why spend mega-bucks on some hot summer trends when you can get the same look for less? This Thursday April the 24th at 3pm EST, Posh Mama wants to help you “splurge and steal” during yet another great Me.dium shopping tour. The new Beauty and Style editor of Poshmama.com will be there filling us all in, along with a whole bunch of other chic chicks with great sites to share.
During the tour, you’ll be getting some awesome discount and promo codes to great online boutiques to get incredible deals. Go on and pamper yourself from the comfort of your home and computer!
If you’re new to the Me.dium scene and want to get in on all the fun, here’s a few steps that will get you into the action!
It’s as simple as that! Once the tour starts you can participate by posting comments and sharing your favorite webpages. Watch as the crowd of Poshmamas flocks to your site, and check out what the other ladies are posting! To follow along as we travel the Internet, click the link in each chat box under the screen name of the person posting it. You will be taken to the exact page they are viewing. Pretty snazzy, eh?
Socialize, share, and shop away!
The tour will be kicking off at 3pm EST on Thursday, April 23rd! Can’t wait to see ya there!
Check out this page to see what the people have to say about these great tours!
Over the weekend David, founder and VP of Marketing, turned 41 (shh don’t tell anyone). The Me.dium crew went out to celebrate this joyous occasion and landed at a cowboy bar with a vicious mechanical bull. Good times were had by all and we learned a valuable lesson too. A few brave soles tested the bull as a duo. The result was disastrous.

This had us scratching our heads. We believe strongly that everything is more fun with friends. Is it possible that we found an activity that is actually less fun with friends? As you can see, especially if you are trying to avoid awkward situations with co-workers, the answer is an unanimous YES. We meditated long and hard on this new discovery and concluded that this is a rare (yet hilarious) situation. We went to the bar together, we ate, drank, and laughed together, and now we make fun of each other in the aftermath.
Conclusion: Almost everything is way sweeter with your friends.
Lesson learned: Ride alone, surf with friends.

You’ve got the Me.dium sidebar up and running. You see your little orange icon dash around your map, you join various crowds, and you check out the shout-out board linking you to cool websites…
But are you sharing websites with the rest of the Me.dium community? We know you’ve got an arsenal of great sites stored up just waiting to be shared, and we want to see em’! Our shout-out board becomes more effective with each post that you guys put up, so show us what you’ve got!
So here’s how to share in simple steps!
1) When you’re surfing the web and find a site you want to post check the top right corner of your sidebar and make sure you are “visible to all”
2) Click the talk tab on your sidebar
3) at the bottom of the sidebar there is a link that says “Click to comment about this page” Click it.
4) Write in a quick blurb about what your site is all about
That’s it! Watch as people flock to your site, and participate in a chat discussing the site you just put up!
If you need more info, check out this tutorial video that will show you how it works!
Have a great day!
xox,
Jenny
